If you find the resistance is not with in the recommended resistance value then replace the sensor.

You may find the sensor has metal filings or steel granules stuck to the sensing head. This is due to the magnetic field produced by the sensor and should be cleaned. This can cause misread and incorrect pulsation to the engine control unit thus causing bad running or total misfire altogether. These sensors are extremely tough and rarely give and hassle.
