Here at Lextreme we we can offer you Toyota Engines and expertise with mechanical and electrical as well as parts. We stock a range of engines from small corolla engines through to straight six or V8’s. There is a high demand for these smaller engines as they are very popular on South African roads.
Some of the most popular engines are the 4AGE 7AFE and 4Y engines. These engines are used for all the small cc model Toyota vehicles but there are some really fun engines to look at too. When one is looking for a fun vehicle or simply just an upgrade lets say from the Hilux 4Y, one could look at 2JZ non turbo as this will give you a very smooth drive, It is a luxury engine and would give better fuel economy. There are so many options as far as an upgrade goes so the main thing to do it to look at your application for the vehicle and make an informed choice from the start.
There are much stronger engines and I am sot saying stronger in fiscal strength but in power outputs. There you can look at 7M-GTE or 2JZ-GTE. The 7M-GTE is a turbo version of the 3.0 Litre cressida engine. Also a great engine as proven on the South African roads but the turbo version is just a different machine. It obviously has the downfall of a bit of lag being a single turbo system and the other not to attractive part to it is they are getting a bit old. This would mean you will start to struggle to find part replacements for those units, but they are extremely tough Toyota engines and very really go wrong. The main parts like bearings etc should be available through a Midas or import through your ebay account if you are looking for top upgrade parts.
Now for the Beast. The 2JZ-GTE VVT-i Toyota Engines are world famous and have huge power as well as full upgrade ability. The parts are everywhere and one can take the power to over 1000 Hp. Way more than anybody here can use on the roads in SA but are a whole load of fun. They are the father of the little 1JZ-GTE VVT-i. The 1JZ is a 2.5 litre engine that is good for a car application but not for a truck of work horse. You might as well go for a V8 and not waist your time.
